WE Program

The WE Program is a long-standing initiative to improve working conditions in Chinese factories through enhanced worker–employer communication. The program was launched in 2007 and has since built the capacity of over 300 production facilities to collaboratively address labor issues that arise at the workplace.

Jointly implemented by SAI and a leading German coffee and consumer goods retailer Tchibo Gmbh, the program has successfully contributed to increasing Chinese factories’ ownership of labor standards implementation and workers’ rights.

The program was originally initiated by Tchibo and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as a public-private partnership, co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
